We have two club classes coming up in April.

Solving short problems, improving endgame skills, ability to visualize ahead, and analyze positions. Discussion of strategic principles and an introduction to commonly played openings along with the ideas behind them are the main topics in this class. Carefully selected positions are introduced, and students are prompted to work through the tactics in class.

Our advanced beginner classes are free for members who are unrated or rated U1000. They are recommended for members with ratings between 500-1000 or who have completed a Beginner course.

This class will be hosted online. There are no age restrictions.

Bryan was on the national champion UMBC chess team from 1999 to 2001, and earned his grandmaster title from FIDE in 2013. He is the first-ever GM from Alaska! Bryan took 1st place in the 2008/2009/2017 National Chess Congress, 2010 Philadelphia International, 2013 Ohio Chess Congress, 2013 Eastern Open, 2017/2018/2019 Pittsburgh Open, and 2021 Golden Triangle Open.
