Pittsburgh Chess Club Annual Picnic, Night Market

2024 Annual Picnic

Pittsburgh Chess Club's Annual Picnic was held Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Wightman Park in Squirrel Hill, across from where our former chess club location was on Solway St. Pittsburgh Chess Club member and International Master-Elect Erick Zhao held a chess game exhibition, playing against 7 players simultaneously ranging from Expert-class to beginner. Jason Woo (Age 11) managed a draw against Erick Zhao, and so did Robin Steiner-Malumphy who held out as the last game in a king, pawn, bishop vs. king, pawn, knight endgame. Final result was 5 wins and 2 draws for Erick Zhao, 6-0-2. (Win-Loss-Draw record) Many thanks to Mrs. Zhao and Club President Mark Jeromin for acting grillmasters cooking the delicious burgers and hot dogs.
